BEIRUT: The Civic National Front has condemned the Lebanese government for pursuing decade-old policies that plunged the country into a multifaceted crisis, which was evident during French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian’s recent visit to Lebanon.

During meetings with Lebanese officials, the French envoy reiterated the international community’s call for reforms as a pre-condition to unlock billions of dollars in support for Lebanon.

The developments that accompanied and followed Laudrian’s visit demonstrated that the ruling class was unwilling and incapable of enacting reforms, the Coordination Committee at the Civic National Front said following a meeting on Thursday,

The committee said the front was committed to the objectives of the October 17 revolution and called for the formation of an independent government that would oversee early elections among other key judicial and anti-corruption reforms.
